Hi, I'm Alex

I'm Oleksandr But, a tattoo artist and illustrator. I grew up in Ukraine, then lived and worked across Europe and the US, from guest spots in different cities to my studio in Chicago. Every move ended up somewhere in my drawings.

For 9 years I've tattooed in one style. I draw simple characters and small everyday scenes that feel a little off, like something just happened or is about to. Most of them started as flash sheets in my studio.

Some designs got tattooed again and again, 5 to 10 times each. At some point I wanted to see them somewhere besides skin. So I started adapting them for blankets, tees, hats, prints and whatever comes next.
